AMBOY MARSH FIELD TRIP

Tuesday, September 22, 10:00 a.m.

Join us for this autumn equinox trip to Amboy Marsh, a 302-acre wetland that also includes several oak savannas.

In September, we may see the Purple Martins, Red-headed Woodpeckers, Sandhill Cranes, and flycatchers along with some of the early migrators. We might also see Bottle Gentian and several species of asters, along with numerous sedges and the splendor of the autumn grasses.

Wear attire appropriate for hiking at a leisurely pace. An off-highway vehicle can be available for those with limited hiking ability.

You can either meet at Amboy Marsh at the Nature Center located at 1701 Morman Road in Amboy at 10:00 or carpooling is available from the Forreston Public Library parking lot at 9:00 a.m.

When everyone arrives at 10:00 a.m., we will tour the property until noon and then come back to the Nature Center for lunch. Bring your own sack lunch and a beverage. The car pool should be back in Forreston by 2:00 p.m.

Contact Teresa Smith at 815-238-3963 (call or text) to register if you plan to join us so that we can accommodate all participants. Please let Teresa know when you register if you plan to carpool or meet at Amboy.
