Field Trip: Exploring Abraham’s Woods and Oliver Prairie, 7:30 am to 2:00 pm

Join us as we look for spring wildflowers and birds in both woodland and prairie at these two gems in Green County, Wisconsin. Located near Albany and only about a mile apart, both sites are considered high quality. Abraham’s Woods is a remnant of a climax forest. Oliver Prairie, known as “Shooting Star Hill”, is a dry, steep south- facing limestone remnant prairie.

Carpool from the Harbor Freight lot in Freeport at 7:30 a.m. We plan to stop for lunch in Monroe before our return to Freeport around 2 p.m. Bring binoculars, water and insect repellent. Snacks will be provided.

Note: Oliver Prairie is very steep. Some blooming plants can be seen from the roadside so that walking on the prairie can be optional. Also, while there are no restrooms at either site, we will stop in Monroe enroute to the sites for a restroom break.

Carpool from Harbor Freight in Freeport at 7:30 am.

Please confirm your attendance with Mary at 815-938-3204.
