Drifting through the Driftless with Jon Stravers and friends, Day 3: (Rescheduled from June)
September 7, 2025
The confluence of the Wisconsin and Mississippi Rivers near Prairie Du Chien is home to some of the most scenic and diverse habitats in the Upper Midwest.
We’ll be staying at the Country Inn and Suites just north of Prairie Du Chien off highway 35. Basic rooms go for around $150/night and we will try and get a block together. 608-326-5700 https://www.choicehotels.com/wisconsin/prairie-du-chien/country-inn-suites-hotels/wi477?mc=llgoxxpx
There is still uncertainty about possible future closures of the bridge and other factors that may affect the trip, so call Steve Simpson at 815-821-1956 or email sjsimpson56@gmail.com for the latest.
Also note that you do not need to sign on for this whole weekend but can do any segment independently. And if you are interested in this adventure but can’t do the 5-7 weekend, call Steve anyway as the date may change again. This is a unique opportunity to explore a fascinating corner of the driftless area with a man who has spent a lifetime studying birds and other wildlife in the region.
